The Grand Award of Design was established in 2003 to spotlight design as a key to competitiveness and profitability.
Design is a key factor for competitiveness and profitability. The Grand Award of Design recognizes companies that have successfully incorporated and leveraged design to create innovative products and services that showcase excellent creativity, functionality, business acumen and a deep understanding of customer’s behaviors and needs.
The Grand Award of Design was established in 2003 by Teknikföretagen. In 2023 this prize will be awarded in two categories by Teknikföretagen and Techarenan for outstanding design with substantial business impact.
Which entries may be submitted?
Products, product ranges and services from Swedish companies and their internal or external design suppliers may be entered for the Grand Award of Design competition. They are assessed on their form and function, with the crucial component being the extent to which a design has laid the foundation for long-term commercial success. Other important elements include user perspective, design strategy, level of innovation, news value, adaption to production, ergonomics and environmental requirements.
How does the competition work?
Anyone is allowed to nominate an entry for the Grand Award of Design. Based on the nominations received, it is then the job of the Grand Award of Design’s eminent jury to select three finalists in each category and finally, at a gala the 26 th October, announce the winners.
The finalists will be revealed here on October 19 th.
What is the award for the winning entry?
The category winners of the Grand Award of Design are awarded a cash prize.
Winner Gold Category: 250.000 SEK
Criterias: Design excellence, Commercial Success, Sustainability
Winner Pioneer Category: 100.000 SEK
Criterias: Design excellence, Commercial Potential, Sustainability
Three finalists will be chosen in each category. The runners up in each category will will receive 10,000 SEK.
